Description
A modern alternative to the classic muddler minnow inspired by Steve Bird developed specifically for trout spey. It is designed to be cast on as light as a 2 weight trout spey rod with a short sinking polyleader. The brown and olive color combination and materials used make this a very enticing fly to larger trout. It makes for a great baitfish imitation especially when the majority of hatches have concluded and fish are more lethargic while swinging during the fall and winter months in all water conditions.
Each fly is hand tied by me. Total length of fly from head to end of hook is approx 1.5″
Fish this fly on your 2-5wt trout spey rod or as an option, your 3-6 weight single hand rod using OPST’s Micro Series Commando head and tips when there’s nothing present on the surface – an especially effective pattern in the off season attached to a sinking poly or versaleader . Tie this on and prepare for potential vicious hook ups with larger fish at the end of your swing.
